Mini Facelift/Limited Facelift
As we age, the skin around the neck, jaw and cheekbones begins to gradually lose its elasticity, and wrinkles, frown lines, and sagging skin folds threaten to completely distort the profile. Even with exercise, juicing, proper hydration and vitamins, these effects of time and gravity are difficult to combat without the assistance of a Mini Facelift and other cosmetic surgeries.
For those men and women who desire the rejuvenating benefits of a traditional facelift without the longer recovery time and invasive techniques, the mini facelift is a subtle and convenient solution with beautiful, natural outcomes. This procedure will tighten and tone the mid-face and upper neck via inconspicuous incisions behind the ears, melting away years of stress and fatigue from the appearance. It is often complemented by a neck lift or eyelid surgery. Additionally, Dr. Capizzi may recommend laser resurfacing and injectables like Juvederm, Voluma and BOTOX for a complete age-reversing facial rejuvenation.

Before & After

About the procedure:
Cutaneous, or skin-only facelifts do not offer results that comply with Dr. Capizzi’s high standards. Therefore, he will manipulate the surface skin and the fatty layer beneath. For more extensive laxity, he may also tighten but also the underlying muscles known as the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System, or SMAS. These approaches deliver results that are far more natural and sustainable, gracefully achieving the overall goal of a more youthful and revitalized appearance.
Dr. Capizzi will make undetectable incisions from below the earlobe to the hairline (behind the ears), allowing him to pull the skin and SMAS upwards and outwards, reducing wrinkles and sagging folds of skin around the lower face and jaw. When both the SMAS and skin have been positioned correctly for the individual’s facial type, excess tissue will be eliminated and the muscle and skin sutured. Now Dr. Capizzi has extensive experience with injecting Kybella to dissolve fatty areas beneath the chin, neck, and around the mouth. Finally, a Microlaser Peel is done to resurface the skin and provide that youthful appearance we desire.
The mini facelift takes approximately two to three hours to complete. Most sutures dissolve and the remainder are removed at 7 days. Although some bruising and swelling is to be expected, most patients find they can return to normal activities within a few days. If those days occur over the weekend, a client can effectively undergo the procedure without having to take any time off from work. As part of the Capizzi Method, to ensure maximum results, every patient meets with a nurse and Medical Aesthetician at their first preoperative appointment. During this time, the patient will undergo a lymphatic treatment, which will increase blood flow and encourage healing. Known as among one of the top cosmetic surgeons in the region, Dr. Capizzi and his staff are on hand at all times should you never advice or assistance during your healing process.
Having been through the Capizzi experience, these patients can help you understand the smoothness of the journey.
One of the most frustrating telltale signs of aging is the sagging, excess fat and skin that distorts the neck area, drastically altering the profile and the entire facial appearance. Wrinkled, loose folds beneath the chin, or what some term a “turkey neck”, may even cause a slim man or woman to look heavier, older and less appealing. A Neck Lift is a dynamic, age-reversing solution that can regenerate youth and confidence and make glancing in the mirror enjoyable once more.
A neck lift, also called a lower rhytidectomy, restores elasticity to the jaw and neck, refining the neck muscles and trimming neck fat to achieve a firmer, tighter silhouette. Depending on the patient’s facial anatomy, liposuction, a mini facelift, eyelid surgery or dermal fillers may be suggested in conjunction with this procedure.
Choosing the best NC neck lift surgeon:
As a double board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in cutting edge preventative aging techniques, Dr. Peter Capizzi has been known to deliver fantastic neck lift procedures. Before the procedure:
During your initial consultation, Dr. Capizzi will discuss your overall aesthetic goals at length, tailoring his suggestions to your current physique, medical history, and photos. Dr. Capizzi will field any questions or concerns that may arise regarding your neck lift procedure. His top priority is to create an outstanding patient experience from start to finish.
Details of the standard or “open” neck lift:
The most common type of neck lift is the “open” neck lift. For the best results, this procedure is often performed in tandem with a facelift or mini facelift. The critical angle between the jaw and the beginning of the neck, also called the “cervicomental angle,” is reformed to restore youthfulness and vitality to the profile.
Two incisions are made at the ear/hairline, with an additional incision sometimes made under the chin to facilitate the removal of excess fat deposits.
After the doctor lifts the neck skin, he will begin refining the underlying platysma muscles and adjusting the neck tissue. In cases where there is a large amount of excess fat deposited between the skin and muscle, liposuction is the most appropriate tool for recontouring the neck and improving its overall definition.
The endoscopic neck lift:
This procedure is ideal for those patients who do not have an abundance of excess neck skin, but rather the vertical bands of platysma muscle in the neck have lost their elasticity, adding years to a person’s perceived age. During the endoscopic neck lift, a small fiber optic camera is inserted on the end of a probe via tiny incisions in the neck. This gives the doctor the ability to view the area for improvement on a video monitor for a high degree of accuracy and detail in reforming imperfections.
Most patients experience some tenderness, bruising and swelling in the neck after surgery. Despite this, due to the superior flow of blood to the face and neck, healing is swift and fairly pain free, while scars tend to also fade quickly. Pain medications are available to you should you need them. Neck drains placed at the site of the surgery will help to excise fluids and speed up recovery. It’s best for patients to keep the head elevated, as this will assist in minimizing discomfort and soreness. Sutures will dissolve within 7 days, and clients on the whole find they are able to return to work and normal activities within a few weeks after a Neck Lift.
